"In Search of Lost Cafes" by David Rogers is a 23 page illustrated story. The story involves Old Man and Eve as they sit people watching in a crowded cafe. As they look at the different folks they consider, "The stories they could tell us". As Old man says, "We are the supporting actors and actresses watching the other bit players and providing entertainment for them in return".
